Sunita Williams’ Journey to Space
On June 5, 2024, Sunita Williams and fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore launched into space aboard the Boeing Starliner spacecraft as part of the Boeing Crew Flight Test (CFT). It was Starliner’s first crewed flight, and their mission was to test the spacecraft’s performance. But little did they know, they were in for an extended stay! 😲
Why Was Sunita Williams ‘Stuck’ in Space?
Now, you might have heard that Sunita Williams was “stuck” in space. But don’t worry—NASA always had a plan! There was a lifeboat ready in case of emergency. The real reason for their extended stay was technical issues with the Boeing Starliner capsule. Initially, their mission was supposed to last only a week, but due to these problems, they ended up staying for more than nine months! 🚀💫
The Journey Back to Earth
After spending months in space, it was finally time to come home! Sunita Williams and her crew returned aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft named Freedom. On March 19, 2025, around 3:30 AM IST, they safely landed back on Earth after a long mission. 🌍💖
